ABOUT US

Baylor BUV is a humanitarian organization sponored by Baylor Univeristy in Waco, Texas. Our organization is comprised of undergraduate engineering students seeking to apply classroom knowledge and technical skills in pursuit of mission activity. Baylor BUV is partnered with a non-profit organization, Village of Hope, to pursue our mission related goals.

What's a BUV?

Basic Utility Vehicles (BUVs) provide affordable transportation for rural, underdeveloped countries.

The BUV is a simple, durable,  light-weight, and low-cost vehicle designed for rugged landscapes and heavy payloads to facilitate communal transportation, economic growth, and hope for the future.

Student Design Competition

The Institute of Affordable Transportation sponsors an annual BUV Design Competition. This competition is focused on water delivery systems, and teams compete to pump water onto the vehicle, navigate a 2.2 mile course over rugged terrain, and return the water to the pond.

We build a BUV every year to enter into the competition which takes place in the spring.

Our Mission

Baylor BUV’s mission is to engage students in a mission-oriented project and to provide our members hands-on engineering experience within a challenging competition program.
