Village of Hope

Since 2018, Baylor BUV has been partnered with Village of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides housing, family reconnections, school, skills training and medical care to the victims of recent civil wars in Uganda. The BUV team traveled to Uganda in May 2018 and May 2019 to teach local trade students how to build a Basic Utility Vehicle. Our goal is, rather than simply building and donating a BUV, to teach the community how to build one themselves. This allows them to learn about building and repairing these vehicles independently, while also providing them with much-needed transportation for water, crops, medicine and people.

Tools For Hope

In 2016, Baylor BUV partnered with Tools For Hope, a non-profit organization whose goal is to help the growth and development for subsistence farmers in East and Central Africa.  Our team is worked with Tools For Hope to donate one of the BUVs we built to their team in Rwanda, where it is being used as a means to help farmers transport crops. This is is especially important in Rwanda as nearly 80% of Rwandans are subsistence farmers, and a basic means of transportation can make a huge difference in their lives. Our BUV was sent to Rwanda in December of 2016.
